Public Remarks: Cedar Hill is one of the most historic properties in all of Washington County VA and Sullivan County TN. The original log house at the rear was built in 1791, by David King. The brick front addition was added by his son in 1845. This extraordinary home has many original features, including fireplaces, flooring, and period paneling! There is lots of room, with a large living room, dining room, den, old kitchen and a newer kitchen, along with three bedrooms upstairs and a loft area. Sitting on three beautiful acres, the lot boasts a very early log smokehouse, 1850 era blog barn, and mature trees. If you have ever tried to decide whether you wanted to live in TN or VA, well... your mind's made up for you... The property sits both in VA and TN! Now that is a fun fact to tell your friends when they visit. While you are telling them the amazing history of the property, don't forget to mention that Theodore Roosevelt stayed here a few nights while writing his famous book, The Winning of the West. The house will of course need a full restoration, but what you have to work with is incredible. Properties like this rarely come on the market, so do not wait to make a move. There are historic restrictions on the property and a full disclosure of those is available upon request. The seller is looking for someone restoration-minded and ready to make this historical treasure a home.
